VTUW dryers for explosive environments

In cases where it is necessary to heat products in an environment classified as explosive, an ordinary dryer cannot be used. The ATEX directive, which we must follow in these areas, sets various restrictions at several levels, depending on the level of risk that the device must meet. Vötschtechnik offers one type of standard dryer for explosive areas. In addition, a dryer can be made to order if the standard device does not meet the dimensions or classification according to ATEX. Custom devices are marked VTUW, the standard model is then VFT 60/90.

Basic information

The internal dimensions of the VFT60/90 device are 600 x 600 x 900 mm (w x d x h). The dryer can be fitted with grates or sheets with a higher load capacity. It is intended exclusively for areas falling within category 3G, zone 2 according to ATEX. Heating processes falling within category 2G/zone 1, temperature classes T1 to T4 can then be carried out inside, with the maximum heating temperature set according to the temperature class. The device is always flushed with compressed air before use and the range of modifications and accessories is relatively limited.

Product use

The VTUW series furnaces can be installed in zones 2 and 1, and can also heat solvents according to classes IIA and IIB. Their design varies depending on the assignment, especially with regard to the requirements for the spaces outside and inside the furnace. The electrical equipment can be completely separated from the chamber itself and installed in an adjacent room with a lower risk level. The sizes of the working chambers are based on the HeatEvent series, but custom solutions are also possible.
