Every test of colour fastness, whether light fastness, colour penetration or resistance to abrasion, rubbing or washing, must be followed by an evaluation of the results. Both subjective and instrumental evaluation of the results should be carried out under reproducible conditions. The use of a box for these purposes will ensure reproducibility.
Colorchex boxes are open cabinets, painted in neutral grey, in accordance with the requirements of standards such as the ISO 105 family. They are equipped in the upper part with light sources simulating daylight, standard fluorescent light, sunrise, tungsten bulb and UV light to highlight optical brighteners. They are available in two sizes, 60 cm and 120 cm wide.
The boxes for measuring and evaluating colors are equipped with a remote control and a support for exposure at an angle of 45°. Replacement lamps, which should be changed regularly, can also be supplied with certification. Which you will appreciate if you are considering accreditation of the testing procedure. The gray scale according to ISO 105-A02 and -A03 must not be missing.
