IMI electronics for industrial sensors

PCB Piezotronics manufactures a wide range of electronic components for powering ICP® and charge sensors for use in machine condition monitoring. All of these products provide signal conditioning for signal transmission from the sensor to DAQ (data acquisition) devices, whether built-in or portable. Amplifiers for charge sensors convert a high impedance signal to a low impedance voltage signal. Signal conditioners have an AC connection and allow for additional signal amplification, including gain. Most of the types offered are equipped with fault indication LEDs that indicate sensor overcapacity, short circuit, or open circuit.

Basic information

The signal conditioners are designed to be mounted on a DIN rail. They can power sensors with ICP® electronics or 4-20mA signal transmitters. Amplifiers for charge sensors are, like the sensors, suitable for use at high temperatures. They are produced in several versions, either as in-line amplifiers for connection directly between the sensor and the DAQ unit, or as separate components for mounting either using a DIN rail or screws. Amplifiers in the form of separate units are also supplied in a version for connecting differential sensors.

Product use

Since these are accessories for accelerometers and pressure sensors used in industry to determine the health of machines, the areas of application are the same. For example, let's mention the health monitoring of bearings and supports of rotating machines, combustion characteristics of gas turbines and engines, monitoring the health of turbines in the energy sector, and monitoring machine vibrations caused by defects or external interference.
