IMI electronics for sensor signal transmission

If you need to measure vibrations directly on a machine in operation, PCB Piezotronics offers suitable converters and transmitters for 4-20 mA signals. These enable direct connection of the output signal from the vibration measuring sensor to the PLC or DCS operation control system. This gives you an overview of the output from these sensors, in the form of acceleration, amplitude or speed, online in real time and whenever you need it. This is invaluable help, which in the case of monitoring key machines for production can significantly reduce production downtime caused by undetected machine defects. The offer includes separate components or standard transmitters for mounting on a DIN rail. If connection to a PLC is not possible, we can assemble a complete protection circuit from PCB components, including an alarm, display and a shutdown signal for the machine.

Basic information

Miniature signal transmitters connect the sensor directly to the control system. A special bearing monitoring solution, consisting of a sensor and a wireless or DIN rail-mounted transmitter, allows for early detection of bearing defects, whether they are cracks or seizure. Reciprocal machine protection, in turn, warns of unexpected shocks in the machine. Signal transmitters and their above-mentioned applications are approved for use in common hazardous areas encountered in industry. For example, areas with a risk of explosion specified by the ATEX directive. If it is not possible or appropriate to output the signal to the line control and information system (PLC, DCS, etc.), we also offer displays and alarms as signal receivers. These control elements can be connected to machine safety systems and, thanks to the built-in potential-free contact for the shutdown signal, can also serve as protection.

Product use

A safety element that can save time and money by detecting defects inside a machine in a timely manner, which is manifested by a change in the nature of its vibrations. In conjunction with vibration protectors, it offers a special solution for monitoring bearing defects or sudden shocks caused, for example, by the impact of a foreign object on the machine. The components are standalone or designed for mounting in a switchboard (DIN rail). The emphasis on miniaturization, electromagnetic compatibility and usability in many areas, such as ATEX areas, is a matter of course. Detecting a problem on a machine before a catastrophic failure occurs can save not only production and repair resources, but also the lives and health of people working and moving near the protected machine.
