Industrial accelerometers are also known as seismic vibration sensors, which are rugged, stainless steel vibration monitoring sensors for predictive maintenance. All IMI sensors are hermetically sealed and encapsulated. Our integrated cable units are submersible and IMI’s extensive product line includes high temperature models (both charge and ICP) and dual temperature and vibration output sensors. Low cost permanent installation accelerometers are a cost effective choice for vibration trending applications. Multi-axis ICP accelerometers measure vibration in two or three planes of motion. Digital output sensors are a revolutionary sensor technology associated with Industry 4.0 industrial automation and system connectivity. The connectivity of devices, equipment and sensors via cloud computing enables cognitive computing and analyzes large volumes of data to output simplified results to a user interface to assist people in decision making.
A unique group of accelerometers for hazardous areas are certified by several different international programs (ATEX, CSA/ETL and IECEx) as well as several country-specific certifications. Cryogenic ICP accelerometers are specifically designed for operation in environments down to -196°C using specialized, embedded, cryogenic circuitry and quartz shear technology. Each sensor is hermetically sealed in a 316L stainless steel housing. Radiation-hardened accelerometers are resistant to radiation and can be used in nuclear power plants or other applications where radiation may be encountered. High-frequency acceleration sensors are used to monitor high-speed rotating equipment. Low-frequency accelerometers go hand in hand with low-frequency vibration measurements. For this reason, IMI Sensors offers accelerometers that combine extended response at low frequencies with high sensitivity at the output.
High-temperature ICP accelerometers are capable of withstanding continuous temperatures of 162°C. For applications exceeding these temperatures, IMI Sensors offers a portfolio of charge accelerometers with an integrated ICP amplifier that can operate at temperatures up to 482°C and charge accelerometers without an integrated amplifier that can operate up to 649°C. Hazardous area accelerometers are typically installed in potentially explosive areas. Some installations may require an additional barrier to limit energy according to the hazardous area classification. Cryogenic ICP accelerometers are individually tested to determine the thermal coefficient of sensitivity at -196°C, ensuring reliable operation and accurate measurements in cryogenic centrifuges and reciprocating pumps for processing liquefied natural gas (LNG), industrial gases (argon, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen), pharmaceutical manufacturing and frozen food production and storage.
