Tilt testing involves a very simple premise: replicating the effect of gravity during a simulation. To do this, the load is tilted in a controlled manner and the effects of this movement on the stability of the load are simulated.

Basic information

The tilt testing product group consists of two products:

  • TLE tilt tester - an innovative solution that integrates the ability to perform tilt tests on palletized units in a simple, fast and repeatable way.
  • portable tilt tester - specifically designed for tilt testing to evaluate the stability of loads during transport.

TLE tilt machine is designed to automatically perform tilt tests and measure the deformation of the load during the test thanks to the high-precision sensors it contains. The data obtained during the test can be easily exported for analysis. The solution includes an independent and intuitive driver in a format to display the test configuration parameters and automatically start it. In addition, the tilt tester can be combined with the innVision ST vision measurement system, which consists of a high-speed camera and software for measuring the deformation of the unit load. After the test, the system generates a report containing all the information about the deformations suffered by the loaded unit, reducing the analysis time by more than 90% compared to standard manual procedures. Using Tilt tools allows for regular testing, allowing engineers to better understand the distribution process and make changes that reduce product risk during transport.

The Portable Tilting Tool is a portable tool weighing less than 300 kg, available in three versions for different load capacities, compliant with EN 12195 for load securing, user-friendly and easy to maintain, suitable for packaging validation and optimization, and usable for sample comparison and stability measurements in production without additional equipment.

Product use

In this test, the load is tilted until it reaches a predetermined inclination or until failure occurs, while observing the reaction of the packaging. The resistance of the load securing systems is then evaluated using a simulation of the packaging tilt. The innTilt range is designed in accordance with the EN 12195 standard to perform this simulation intuitively, allowing for accurate results. Tilt simulation testing allows companies to benefit from a number of advantages: on the one hand, it is an easy way to ensure that the load maintains its rigidity during transport. This means that we strongly recommend this method as a test to be carried out at the end of the production line. In addition, this method is strongly recommended in various stages of packaging analysis, for example in quality control systems or when comparing different packaging during design. Tilt simulation is also particularly important at a time when sustainable packaging initiatives are praised and supported by both government authorities and end customers. Therefore, conducting tilt tests allows companies to reduce the amount of packaging materials and their weight, optimize unit packaging costs, and increase sustainability.
